Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our services & process.
Can’t I just wash my bins myself
Simply put NO.
Most local councils prohibit washing bins in the street, as the wastewater can enter stormwater drains and flow directly into local creeks, rivers, and waterways, potentially reaching Sydney Harbour. This wastewater often contains contaminants, grease, bacteria, and other pollutants that can harm the environment.
Failure to comply with local environmental regulations may result in significant fines and penalties.
How are my bins cleaned?
Our team arrives at your location on the scheduled collection day, after your bins have been emptied. Any remaining waste or debris is removed from the bins and disposed of responsibly.
The bins are then treated with an environmentally friendly degreaser before being lifted onto our purpose-built cleaning units mounted on our service vehicles. Using high-pressure water and a mild detergent, each bin is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised.
All wastewater and residue are captured and directed through our onboard filtration and recycling system, ensuring an environmentally responsible cleaning process.
Once cleaned, the bins are air-dried, any excess water is removed, and a deodoriser is applied, leaving your bins fresh, clean, and ready for use.
What happens to the water that Bin2Clean uses?
Our water supply is sourced from tanks mounted on our service vehicles. The water is continuously recycled through our purpose-built onboard filtration treatment system. To ensure efficient and environmentally responsible operation.
Working closely with our recycling partner, all wastewater is collected, transported, and treated in accordance with Sydney Water and EPA guidelines and regulations.
Please note that wastewater generated from bin cleaning must not be discharged into stormwater systems or any natural waterways.
How often do my bins need to be cleaned?
The ideal cleaning frequency depends on how your bins are used and maintained. As a general guide, most residential customers prefer a cleaning service every 2 to 4 weeks. For hospitality venues, commercial properties, and larger strata complexes, a more frequent service—ranging from weekly to every 4 weeks—is often recommended to maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and odour control.
Many of our customers adjust their cleaning schedule to suit the changing seasons. More frequent cleans are often preferred during the warmer summer months, when heat can increase odours and bacteria build-up. During the cooler months, customers may choose to reduce the frequency of their service while still maintaining clean, hygienic bins year-round.
What chemicals do you use
Most of the cleaning effectiveness comes from our high-pressure cleaning system, which is significantly more powerful and efficient than a standard household garden hose.
We work closely with our suppliers and use environmentally responsible cleaning agents. All chemicals used are biodegradable and fully supported by Safety Data Sheets (SDS), ensuring safe and compliant use.
What happens if my bins are not empty when you arrive?
If your bins are not empty upon arrival, this can occasionally occur, which is why we request an approximate collection time in advance.
In most cases, we can return later the same day or the following day to complete the service. We kindly ask that the bin be kept accessible and available for cleaning during this time.
Please note that a futile service fee will not be charged when the bin has not been emptied by the waste collection contractor.
How do I pay?
Our services are fully contactless, and our operators do not handle any payments.
Once your service has been completed, an invoice will be issued via the Xero accounting system. Payment is due within 7 days of issue unless prior arrangements have been made.
Payment can be made via direct deposit (EFT) or credit card, with all payment details provided on the invoice.
We also offer the option to set up monthly or quarterly accounts for eligible customers.
